About Me

This is where I’m supposed to list all of my degrees, credentials, and accomplishments to show you that I know what I’m doing. Those things are important (and I’ll toss those down at the end of this page), but my view is that you’re the expert of your own life, and my accomplishments may not be the best gauge of whether or not we’ll work well together as you take strides towards moving your life forward.

Let me tell you a bit more about how I came to start practicing therapy and why I love working with clients who are having a hard time with social anxiety, self-esteem, meeting their potential, and addictions. Quite simply, I’ve been there. At age 21, I had been studying Computer Science in college for three years and had not successfully passed a single semester. At the height of my despair, I was spending over 16-hours playing video games to avoid the pain of failing. To make a very long story very short, I started working on my mental health after being kicked out mid-semester and found my path out of suffering. I felt inspired to guide others in doing the same, and while your path will likely be different than mine, I understand suffering and recovery on a level that I couldn’t have if I had not experienced it. I know how hopeless it feels, and I’ve also walked alongside so many people who have taken the quest to pull themselves out of the hopelessness and into a happy life.

Now, how did that inform my practice and what is it like to work with me? I’m a firm believer in helping you help yourself. I won’t tell you what to do, but instead will help you land on decisions that are right for you. I ride the line between being warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental, while also being honest, holding accountability, and challenging you so that you can become your best self. As one past client said it, “You don’t let me get away with anything, but somehow manage to be perplexingly kind.” My goal is for you to be well enough that you don’t need therapy, and strangely, I’m happy to be working myself out of a job. We’ll work together to gain a new set of skills and understandings about yourself, keeping you well long after you graduate from therapy.

I provide a safe space for people of all genders, sexual orientations, religious backgrounds, and cultures. No topic is off the table, and at this point in my career, I’ve heard it all. You can’t work on things that you are too ashamed to speak about, and I feel privileged to provide a space where I get to hear people speak openly and freely about anything.

To add some flavor, here is a little bit about me outside of the therapy office. I’m driven on a wicked cocktail of curiosity, reverence for nature, intrigue of technology, music, food, and a fondness for animals. My ideal day involves enjoying breakfast (hopefully something very spicy), a nice long hike, taking some time to learn about something new and interesting while relaxing with my cat, and hitting up a concert with some friends in the evening. I aim to find balance between relaxation, connecting, learning, being physically active, and enjoying my time.
